Tips & Tricks

Grock can roam early with his Ancestral Gift passive to gain speed, defense and health regen by traveling through the jungle and fighting near walls and turrets. Use this passive advantage to help your team more quickly.

Roam the map and use your crowd control abilities to help allies secure kills. During team fights, seek to protect more fragile allies, using your walls to change the map’s terrain, making it harder for enemies to get in or get out depending on the situation.

Items

Start with the Support Mask with Grock to be able to roam the map without sacrificing too much gold and experience. After this, you can fully upgrade the Courage Mask or rush Rapid Boots instead to roam faster.

After that, build defensive tank items and pay careful attention to the enemy team composition and who is performing well. For teams with heavy magic damage (or an overperforming mage) opt for more Magic Defense items. Teams with a hypercarry marksman or teams with primarily physical damage warrant more physical defense. Bulk up wisely and be able to absorb even more of the damage the enemy throws at you!

Abilities

Grock’s moves work with each other to enable him to initiate fights, crowd control enemies, and help his team push turrets to secure a victory.

When roaming and helping allies with Power of Nature, try to remember to stay near a wall to become immune to Crowd Control — something especially easy for a large immobile tank like Grock to succumb to.

Try to string Guardian’s Barrier with his ultimate, Wild Charge. You can place the barrier behind an enemy team and then charge into them, pushing them into the wall and gaining extra damage and a cooldown reduction. Make sure your allies are nearby to follow up before charging yourself into the enemy team, though! As a tank, you are equipped to absorb enemy damage and nullify it — but staying alive is important, too!

Emblems

Grock’s passive allows him to roam the map early and help allies, making the Support Emblem page a viable choice.

Agility boosts his movement speed further, making it slightly harder for more mobile or ranged characters to kite him.

Recovery boosts his regen, and paired with his Ancestral Gift, he can become even tankier, needing only to hug a wall and rest momentarily before going back into the fight!
