Tips & Tricks
Hanzo needs to farm jungle creeps early in the game so as to rush to level four, unlocking his ultimate and giving him much safer and reliable ganks for his allies. His Demon Feast ability allows him to farm quickly and safely.
As an assassin, Hanzo is best at finding low health targets and squishy targets and eliminating them quickly. In team fights, he should be looking to flank with his ultimate, entering the enemy back line and taking out the marksman and/or mage, allowing his team to further push with little opposition from the enemy due to their lack of damage thanks to the targets he’s eliminated.
Because of his low durability and assassin nature, Hanzo does not thrive in team fights, meaning he can split push objectives on sides of the map when enemies are not fighting. He can safely go back to his body to escape once spotting enemies coming to stop him. By pressuring different areas of the map from his team, Hanzo can draw enemy attention and give his teammates easier fights as enemies split up to try and stop him and catch him.
Items
Raptor Machete allows Hanzo to jungle more efficiently. Take the starter jungle item at the beginning of the match for the added experience and damage while jungling. Demon Feast allows Hanzo to gain Demon Blood and safely finish off jungle monsters, meaning he doesn’t need to take Retribution and can instead opt for Sprint to better run down opponents or flee if caught out without his ultimate.
Rapid Boots allow him to better roam the map and chase after enemies. After that, you can opt for traditional assassin items that increase Hanzo’s physical power, allowing him to better takedown isolated targets.
Demon Hunter Sword works well for Hanzo, allowing him to be better suited when fighting enemy fighters or tanks due to its passive damage, and it also gives him some added lifesteal as well to help prevent his demon from dying too easily.
Abilities
Hanzo can use Demon Feast to safely finish off jungle monsters and high priority objectives like Turtle and Lord, giving his team a valuable advantage over a team without Hanzo. Use Demon Feast while jungling early to stack Demon Blood so that you will be ready to gank for allies and start pushing objectives as soon as your ultimate is available.
Soul Reap can be used to better help in team fights adding some hazard damage and helping Hanzo restore his Demon Blood.
You will primarily be looking for targets with your ultimate. Try to fill your Demon Blood as much as possible as quickly as possible.
Consider the position of your body, knowing that you will be defenseless and can still die while in demon form. If enemies kill your demon, your body will be exposed and you will be stunned — if you engage with your body too close to enemies, they will easily be able to find you and kill you. Positioning effectively and knowing the timing of your engages will be key to mastering Hanzo.
Emblems
Hanzo benefits most from the Assassin emblem page, with upgrades in Agility and Invasion giving him added movement speed and physical penetration. The Bounty Hunter talent grants extra gold for kills, helping Hanzo generate gold advantages for himself, allowing him to push past opponents and create leads for his team in multiple ways.
