Tips & Tricks
Gusion is a master of using his skills in rapid succession to quickly burst enemies down and execute them. He’s a difficult character that takes practice to truly master, but his mobility and outplay potential are just as high as his skill ceiling.
Farm in the jungle early with Gusion, looking for opportunities to gank lanes and ambush out of position enemies. As an assassin, Gusion excels at duels against high priority targets like mages and immobile marksmen. Use your mobility to jump on targets and burst them down before they even have time to react.
In team fights, look to swiftly take down damage dealing characters, and be cautious of enemy crowd control abilities that will lock you down. As an assassin, Gusion primarily builds offensively, which makes him particularly vulnerable to crowd control and anyone who can prevent him from jumping on his targets and getting out.
For maximum magic damage, take the Star Shard jungle item. Beast Killer gives Gusion similar boosts in the jungle while also increasing his defensive stats, making it easier for him to survive his assassination attempts. Thanks to his passive that acts as both a heal and an execute, either jungle item can work.
Magic Shoes offer Gusion nice cooldown reduction, allowing him to use his skills more rapidly. With him relying on combining his skills for damage, Magic Shoes make everything a little easier.
Calamity Reaper is another core item for Gusion, giving him True Damage that scales off his Magic Attack. Pairing this with his execute passive can allow Gusion to burst down his targets swiftly and with ease.
Try to combo Gusion’s abilities in succession so as to deal the highest amount of burst damage on enemies in the shortest amount of time. This will allow you to jump in, eliminate key targets, and get out before anyone can react and stop you.
Gusion’s Sword Spike gives him added mobility and can be used to both engage and escape. Cast it onto an enemy to rush into them, or fling the dagger to a jungle creep when running away to quickly blink to it, leaving the enemies pursuing you far behind you.
Shadowblade Slaughter gives Gusion juicy damage, especially when he lands all his daggers on an enemy. You can draw the daggers in while blinking to the enemy with Sword Spike to draw them in as you arrive behind them.
Positioning yourself properly to maximize Shadowblade Slaughter’s damage can be difficult and takes practice, especially in heated battles. Have patience and always look for opportunities to draw your daggers back so that they hit the target most effectively.
Gusion’s ultimate ability, Incandescence, greatly increases his burst damage potential and makes him able to assassinate just about any target on the battlefield once he hits level four. Try to use Sword Spike and Shadowblade Slaughter once before resetting them with his ultimate, dashing in, throwing out more daggers and drawing them back so that all ten hit the enemy.
Once Gusion goes in with Sword Spike and Incandescence, it can be hard to get out — especially if enemies have arrived to stop him. Try to use Sword Spike once to initiate on your target, saving the reset cooldown to dash away to a minion and out of enemy damage.
Being a mage assassin, Gusion benefits most from the Mage emblem page, with upgrades in Agility and Observation giving him added movement speed and magic penetration, perfect for gap closing on targets and bursting through their defenses. The Magic Worship talent works wonderfully for Gusion’s burst assassination damage, allowing him to further increase his damage and burn enemies he jumps on.
