Tips & Tricks
Kagura has high mobility for a mage, but lacks single-target damage and burst unless mastering her cooldowns wisely. She thrives on being a nuisance to the enemy team, using her umbrella to jump into team fights, damage and crowd control as many people as possible, and jump out untouched.
Items
Unlike other mages who play from a safe distance, using their abilities to poke and whittle down opponents, Kagura thrives on jumping into the fight, and her item build needs to give her some protection when she does that. Building a Clock of Destiny early can help her gain both health and magic attack as the match goes on.
Early Arcane Boots give her area of effect abilities even more of a punch thanks to its magic penetration.
Lightning Truncheon gives Kagura some cooldown reduction, making it easier to get in and out as needed, as well as extra damage on her AoE abilities.
Abilities
Kagura uses her umbrella for her special abilities, with her first ability tossing the umbrella out and slowing enemies with the second one leaving the umbrella behind and pushing Kagura forward, cleansing all debuffs.
Use the umbrella and her movement to take advantage of her passive that stuns enemies and shields her. This makes Kagura very strong early, able to bully her enemies while also helping her remain relevant as the game goes on. Kagura is a difficult champion to master, and part of this is the learning curve of knowing when to use her abilities, knowing which ones to use, and knowing when to go in and pick up an umbrella.
Emblems
As a mage, Kagura wants to use the Mage Emblem page. Points in Mastery will give her cooldown reduction, enhancing both her damage and mobility. Observation gives her higher magic penetration, affording her AoE moves a bit more burst. Impure Rage allows her to do extra damage to enemies hit by her AoE moves, giving it nice value when landed properly in team fights.
