Tips & Tricks
Granger is a marksman, but he plays more like an assassin with his crit damage allowing him to burst targets down rapidly. Once he has a few items, Granger can be an unstoppable menace, especially if he gets ahead of the enemy team with a few kills.
As a marksman, Granger needs to stay in the backline of team fights, using his critical shots on key targets if possible. His high range and even larger range ultimate allow him to keep his distance while still inflicting high damage. Work with your team to push objectives together, with Granger’s damage allowing the team to plow through enemies and take turrets.
Items
Raptor Machete allows Granger to farm jungle camps with ease, useful if he is jungling and ganking for his team. It also helps him secure the red buff more easily, which adds to his power considerably.
Magic Shoes reduce Granger’s cooldowns, allowing him to be both more mobile and output more damage with Rhapsody.
Blade of Despair is Granger’s first power spike, adding massive attack and allowing him to come online to start taking down targets. Building other attack items after this makes Granger a glass cannon, but one that is truly capable of plowing through enemy teams that aren’t focusing him or don’t have the power to lock him down.
Abilities
As a marksman, much of Granger’s power comes from his Basic Attacks. Keeping an eye on your final bullet and using it on key targets is important. Granger will reload the bullets in his gun if out of combat, so it must be done in the heat of the moment. Try and focus whoever is nearest to you (like the tank) but if you see an opportunity to blink forward to land a critical shot on a more fragile target, it may be worth it to heavily burst them down with one click (especially mid-fight, when much of the enemy’s crowd control has been used up.)
Rhapsody lets Granger fire all of his bullets immediately, reloading his gun and letting loose. Try to use Rhapsody smartly; it would be a waste to use it when you have a critical bullet waiting, because it will reload the gun immediately and spend all six bullets. You can also use Rondo while firing Rhapsody, perfect for chasing after enemies or firing back at them as you retreat.
Rondo is a great ability for dodging enemy skill shots and empowering your own attacks. Try to combine Rondo’s damage boost with Granger’s final bullet for even more burst damage.
Death Sonata, Granger’s ultimate ability, gives him even more ranged power and adds some nice utility to his kit. Death Sonata can be used to snipe fleeing targets and slow them, allowing for your team to follow up easily. It’s splash damage is powerful, and Granger can use his blink inbetween firing to reposition, allowing Death Sonata to be used more offensively (or defensively if the enemies begin to collapse on him while he is otherwise immobile in it.)
Try to use Death Sonata in a way that your team gets the ultimate benefit out of it. Finishing off a low health target is a great use of it. as is slowing enemies who are trying to escape, making it easier for your team to chase them down. As enemies get smarter and more organized, they will find ways to dodge Death Sonata or avoid dying to it. It doesn’t offer the immediate burst his basic attacks do, but it more than makes up for that with its utility when used strategically.
Emblems
Granger benefits most from the Assassin emblem page, with upgrades in Bravery and Invasion giving him added attack and physical penetration.
The Bounty Hunter talent grants extra gold for kills, helping Granger acquire his expensive damage items more quickly and snowball faster.
